Apparently the peace sign was originally designed by the British artist Gerald Holtom in 1958. He created it to symbolise the fight against nuclear weapons, specially for the CND, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, just in time for its first ever English protest march. The semaphore letters N and D were superimposed to make the symbol, which these days has a wider meaning – it simply means 'peace', and that's a powerful message. Our real silver peace pendant celebrates more than 50 years of the peace symbol – sadly, a symbol we still need. What a great gift for a friend, family member or yourself.
