Celebrate June with our Beautiful Alternative Clothing

Did you know 4th June was 'Hug Your Cat' day? Or that 1st June was 'Say Something Nice' day?24th June was when the Romans celebrated the Festival of Fors Fortuna, by all accounts a party to end all parties and a very 'rowdy affair'. In fact the Romans celebrated on 15 different days during June, marking everything from the anniversaries of important temples to the 'Fishermen's Games' on 7th June.

In June Hinduism celebrates Ratha Yatra, the procession of Vishnu, and Judaism celebrates Shavuot. In ancient times the Incas celebrated Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun. 5th June is World Environment Day and 21st is World Humanist Day. And of course the June solstice also takes place on 21st June this year, the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere, the day when the night is the shortest and the day the longest.

If you're a Humanist or atheist you might find yourself marking the solstice, or simply feeling a little bit happier on 21st June because it means the summer is well and truly here, we're in the thick of it, and the music festival season has kicked off with a bang. Whether the Spoken Word tent gets all your attention, you'd rather pogo in the punk arena or throw shapes at a house music event, the weather's warm even when it isn't actually lovely, and the great outdoors beckons. So what will you wear for a summer of festival fun? Here are five of the best festival clothing classics for June.

Ladies - Stay cosy after dark with our fab cashmilon poncho

Absolutely perfect for festivals, this gorgeously colourful poncho is a proper treat, and so simple to wear. You literally throw it over your head and there you are – nice and snug as well as stylish. No struggling with sleeves, no fiddling with buttons, and it's made from cashmilon fabric, super-soft stuff that feels exactly like cashmere without the goats, in a jewel-bright combination of reds, blues and oranges in the most amazing complex pattern you can imagine. A fab pixie pointed hood with a drawstring adds even more style and practicality.

Men – Add some colour to your summer with our patchwork harem dungarees

As a man you don't often get the chance to have fun with colour, or enjoy alternative clothing. Far too often your everyday world is navy blue, grey, brown and black. Go for it this summer and add colour to your life with our wonderfully funky patchwork harem dungarees, made from non-stretchy cotton fabric in vivid stonewashed and printed fabrics. The shoulder straps adjust for a good fit and there are pockets galore, exactly what a bloke needs to stash his stuff. Button-up sides, elasticated ankles and a super-casual harem style awaits you.

Kids – Stay funky with our fab hoodie

Our magic unisex kids fleece hoodie is perfect for little ones, in a lovely deep purple-blue embellished with cool dots in contrasting shades. There's an incredibly long and pointy hood, great fun, and it's as cosy as a cosy thing, really nice and warm, perfect for festival fun after dark and cool for playing around in.

Ladies – A pixie dress and pixie skirt all-in-one!

Sometimes you need a special dress – but not a posh one, or a formal one. You need a daytime and late night festival dress, and this is exactly right. It's made from stunningly pretty recycled sari silk fabric, cool and fresh, smothered in stunning tie dye colours with a luxurious double layered ruched bodice and a frothy single layered skirt. The hem is short and sweet, waterfall dipped for something a bit different. Best of all you can also wear it as a long skirt, using the bodice as the waistband. Wow!

Unisex – A hooded top with a difference

Here's a great one for fans of alternative clothing, a unisex flower of life sleeveless top featuring a flower of life pattern and cool, light stonewashed cotton. It has a good sized, comfy kangaroo pocket at the front and a practical round hood, perfect for keeping light summer showers off. Three buttons close it and there's some extra fun in the shape of colourful gheri cotton detailing. A proper festival clothing classic.
