4 Cool Alternative Fashion Predictions for 2020

Happy New Year to all our lovely customers! As the first London Fashion Week of the new decade approaches, we thought it'd be fun to take a look at some of the fashion world's predictions for 2020 and take an alternative fashion view of them. Here goes. We hope you enjoy creating the looks. Thanks to Culture Whisper for the tips.

Optimistic pink

Take a helicopter view and the world doesn't look that great: political scandals, war-like behaviour, climate change and more. The mood on the catwalks is apparently 'defiantly optimistic' despite everything, a mood that's revealing itself in an excess of bright pink. Magenta pink is a powerful colour, bold and vivid, and it's a gorgeous colour to wear with black, seriously dramatic. Top designers Isabel Marant, Christopher Kane, Coach 1941 and Helmut Lang are all about pink right now. Having said that, bright colours of every kind have the same optimistic, fresh and bold impact, and our clothing is nothing if not incredibly colourful. Take our layered pixie wrap skirt in bright purple, a feast of colour and gorgeously patterned fabrics. And our beautiful, fitted hooded long sleeve top, currently on sale at a superb price, comes in a glorious vivid pinky purple. Perfect!

Roll back time to the 1980s

The 1980s fashion revival rumbles on again for 2020, thanks to a flurry of stylish cycling shorts, bum bags, padded shoulders and flowery smock dresses. If you remember the 1980s first hand you'll be relieved to know that designers are putting their own unique slant on the look, bringing it bouncing into the 21st century. Top designers driving the trend include Proenza Schouler, Balenciaga and Dries Van Noten. If you fancy a bumbag with a difference, try our fantastically colourful sun and moon festival bumbag,  or the slightly subtler mandala patchwork belt bag.  We even sell a gorgeous little flower print hippie belt bag, here.

Wonderful white

A white shirt is timeless, but it also happens to be high fashion for 2020, brilliant with jeans and always good-looking. Cotton is great, but so are the other cool fabrics being used to make white shirts: shimmering versions, finely-knitted ones, men's styling, sheer ones, you name it. The white shirt is a big favourite on the catwalk with big brands Prada, Chloé and Burberry. Our Bohemian embroidered blouse falls neatly into the alternative white shirt category, a really pretty and stylish top that also happens to be on sale right now.

Adventures in the jungle

Fancy getting back to nature? Plenty of big name designers are playing with safari suits right now, and animal prints, and everything else that suggests lush vegetation, steamy heat and exotic creatures. In the expensive world of catwalk fashion and designer clothing, Gucci and Max Mara are leading the way. We have lots and lots of gorgeous alternative clothes that shout 'jungle' thanks to the gorgeous plant-inspired embroidery, lush colours and applique. Take our fantastic pixie velvet wrap skirt with its applique flower, or our embroidered long trousers with attached purse.

Are you ready for a shopping session? Have a good, fun rummage around in our sale, and enjoy creating the new year's looks for less in a much more creative and interesting way than the high street. See you soon!
